This project was inspired by the idea of blending horror with comedy, drawing on the best traditions of Tim Burton. Through this photographic series, I aimed to showcase how something ordinary (in this case, a pumpkin) can become sinister when infused with a touch of mystery and irony.
The central theme of this work is the struggle between light and darkness, combined with humour and a hint of absurdity, which adds contrast and depth. This series tells the story of how the ancient spirit of Halloween comes alive through festive symbols, making viewers ponder how thin the line is between a joke and true fear.
The creative process involved working with dramatic lighting, smoke, and textures. I paid particular attention to details such as glowing pumpkins, foggy atmospheres, and the expressive emotions of the model to convey the gothic absurdity I envisioned.
For me, participating in this exhibition is an opportunity to share my vision, surprise the audience, and maybe even give them a small scare (but not too much!). I hope my work will make you smile and reflect on the idea that even the most familiar things may hide something much more profound.
The project was created as a small, fun family photoshoot and was presented in Düsseldorf in January 2025.
